Willy D. Simpson was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday October 8, 2011. He was a most beloved husband, daddy, grand-dad and friend who will be remembered for his gentle kindness and devotion to all who knew him.
He was born on March 31, 1930 in Hockley County to the late Joseph Lee and Ima Iora Simpson.
He married Peggy Jo Lemons on February 17, 1950 who preceded him in death on July 12, 2000. He was also preceded in death by a brother J. Lee Simpson on March 22, 1988.
Those left to mourn his passing, include a son Wendell Lee Simpson of Lubbock, daughter Pat Anderson of Lubbock, brother Arvin L. Simpson of Royse City, sister Corine Horn of Lubbock and two grandchildren Josh Anderson and Cristy McAdoo both of Lubbock and six great –grandchildren.
He spent thirty years working at a cotton seed delinting plant as the plant superintendent. He enjoyed his work and also spent two years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Skyline Baptist and was active until ill health forced him to quit. He was an Ordained Deacon and had also served as music director and treasure.
Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home Funeral Service will be Wednesday October 12, 2011 at 2 PM. At Skyline Baptist Church with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
