William “Bill” Cornwell was born in Long Beach, CA on October 17th, 1966 to Donald and Nancy Cornwell. He was the youngest of 5 children, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Bill spent his childhood in and around Southern California before moving to northern Idaho in his early teens with his family. He lived in the Coeur d’Alene, ID area for the remainder of his teen and young adult years. There he made his home and family with his four children, Matt, Tara, Travis, and Jessica. He worked in construction during this time, learning many talents that led him to management positions in Lowes and Home Depot stores. Due to a work injury, he moved back to Southern California and met his wife Melanie and her 2 children, Ryan and Amanda. After 5 years in Southern California with Melanie and the kids, they followed God’s calling and moved to
Lubbock, TX.
Bill was passionate about D&D and Pathfinder role playing table-top gaming, sword fighting, crafting with his 3D printers, painting his creations and finding new and inventive ways to create terrain and scenery for his table-top games. He was also an avid XBOX gamer, with some of his favorites being Sea of Thieves, Call of Duty and Diablo. Because of his online gaming, he had many friends around the world. Another of his great and most recent passions were his bunnies. Sir Ferdinand was his best buddy for several years, until his passing this last summer. Then Benji came onto the scene and stole his heart. Benji and Bill were inseparable for the last 4 months of his life.
Bill had a love of life, learning and teaching. This included learning and teaching others about Jesus. He worked alongside Melanie in the preschool department of FCN, teaching Children’s church for the last 10+ years. He loved being able to make learning about Jesus fun. Bill was never afraid to ask the hard questions and get answers for himself and others. He loved to talk about what he had learned and experienced and wanted to share it with everyone. He had strong political views that he was not afraid to share but was always willing to listen and discuss differing opinions with others.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 20 years, Melanie and his children, Matthew (Sara), Tara, Ryan, Travis (Molly), Amanda (David) and Jessica and their children and by his brothers and sisters, Roxanne (Sammy), Donald Jr., Ronald (Cathy), and Suzanne (Bobby). He will also be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, as well as many dear friends.
