She was born in lowa Park, Texas on January 1, 1930 to Ernest and Mazzie Nugent. Vera graduated from Sundown High School and received a High School Diploma with Honors. She was married to Benjamin Jackson O'Dell Sr. on May 28, 1948.
Vera had a career as a wife, homemaker, mother and nursing. She was a nurse at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our mother was a very cosmopolitan lady and traveled the world with our father. She had a passion for her family, children and grand and great grand and great-great grandchildren. We love her dearly and will miss her until we see her again in Heaven.
She is survived by children Robert Glynn O'Dell of Sugar Land, Texas, Ernest Andrew O'Dell of Lubbock, Texas and Benjamin Jackson O'Dell Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Leslie Jane Armentrout of Richmond, Texas, Nicole Lynn O'Dell of Richmond, Texas, Caleb Jackson O'Dell of Richmond, Texas, Frieda Elaine Rogan of Tulsa, Oklahoma., Jacqueline Heather O'Dell of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Bobby Travis O'Dell of Claremore, Oklahoma and 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great children. Vera is also survived by her sister Pat Schults of Collinsville, Oklahoma, and James Dann Nugent of Kerrville, Texas
A visitation for Vera will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 West 19th St, Lubbock, Texas 79407. A graveside service will occur Friday, November 3, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the City of Sundown Cemetery.
