Dr. Jesse Yeh, age 59, went to be with God on Monday, November 17, 2014. He died peacefully after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. He was born in Taipei, Taiwan on January 25, 1955 to Chang-Jung Yeh and Chiu-Ching Yeh-Kao. He received his BS degree from Fun Jen University, Taipei, Taiwan. He then went to the Marines for 2 years where he was a 2nd Lieutenant and returned to Fu Jen University to teach for a year. In 1981 he came to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University where he received his PhD in Chemistry in 1986. He taught at Texas A&M Univeristy at Kingsville from 1986 to 1987, then at South Plains College from 1988 to 2014. He was a master teacher who loved teaching and enjoyed his students. He was named Teacher of the year twice, first by faculty and subsequently, by the student body. Jesse was happy, talkative, very personable, loved to help people, and was always smiling. He knew no strangers. Jesse could talk to anyone and made everyone comfortable. He will be remembered by many whose lives he touched deeply. Jesse met the love of his life Cheng-Chih Hsieh at Texas Tech University in December 1982 and married September 1983. After 17 years, God blessed them with 2 wonderful boys, Shao-Lon Yeh, 14 and Shao-Min Yeh, 11. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Cheng-Chih Hsieh, 2 sons Shao-Lon Yeh and Shao-Min Yeh, his sister Jenny Yeh and a large extended family. He also leaves behind in Taiwan his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister, 2 nieces, and 2 nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2:00PM, at the Cornerstone Bible Church, at: 7915 Iola Ave., Lubbock, Texas, with visitation one hour prior.
