Sylvia Nora Hinojosa passed away surrounded by loved ones Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 in Lubbock. She was called Home on the one year anniversary of the passing of her mother, Soila, a fitting testament to their bond.
Sylvia Nora was born February 3rd, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois. After a brief stay in South Texas, the family moved to Lubbock in 1958. Sylvia graduated from Falfurrias High School in 1966. She received a degree from International Business College in 1991. Sylvia retired from AT & T Communications after 24 years of service as a telephone operator in February, 2006. She enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, and visits to the Mountains of Ruidoso with her husband, James. She was an avid sports spectator. She loved football, baseball, basketball, tennis, and golf. Most of all, she loved to laugh and laughed often. We will forever remember her infectious laughter and her beautiful voice.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her father, Dionel G. Coy; her mother, Soila C. Serna; and her husband of 40 years, James Hinojosa.
She is survived by daughters, Tina Lizette Boneta and Vanessa Renee Hinojosa; step-sons Jamie and wife Laura Hinojosa and Steven and wife Jennifer Hinojosa; granddaughters: Nikki Danielle Guajardo, Miranda and Alyssa Hinojosa, Chelsea Hinojosa; grandsons, Blake Thomas and Nicholas Hinojosa; great granddaughters, Layla Lizette and Nyliee Grace. She is also survived by her brothers, Lee and wife Rosa Coy, and Joe and wife Patricia Coy; sister, Synthia and husband Domingo Garcia, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
