Sharon Ann Johnston went to be with the Lord, on August 1,2023 in Lubbock Texas. She was born to the late Mary Virginia Wilson and Carroll Vern Wilson on August 11, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri, but has considered herself a native Texan for the bulk of her life.
Sharon Graduated from Spring Woods High School in 1966 and later attended 2 years of college at the University of Houston. She spent most of her working career working in office management roles and spent some years as part owner and office manager of Moisture Systems, Inc in Houston TX. Sharon devoted her life to the Lord and to her family. She spent over 20 years as a member of Houston’s First Baptist Church and most of those years as a member of the choir and an active participant in the First Baptist Church Pageant each Christmas season. Sharon later joined Clay Road Baptist Church where she was a member for 25 years and spent 4 years as the Church Secretary.
Sharon is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Virginia Wilson and her father, Carroll Vern Wilson, and nephew, Danny Wolda, all of Houston Texas.
Sharon is survived by John, her husband of 25 years; sister, Carolyn Wolda of Kerrville Texas; sons: Michael Hales of Bowie Maryland, David Hales of Dallas Texas, Mike Hales and his wife Jenn of Reston Virginia; granddaughters: Charlotte Hales of Bowie Maryland, Audrey Hales and Gillian Hales of Reston Virginia; grandson, Daniel Hales of Atlanta Georgia; niece, Jenny Kea and husband Josh of San Antonio Texas; nephew, Jeff Wolda of Corpus Christi Texas: great nephews Matthew Parsons, and Lt. Jacob Wolda USAF; and a host of friends.
Memorial Service will be held at Clay Road Baptist Church, 9151 Clay Road, Houston Texas at 2:00PM Sunday, August 13th, 2023. Reverend Bruce Northam Presiding along with former pastor and long-time family friend Reverend Mark Redd from LaPorte Texas.
The family extends their deep appreciation to the many ICU nurses and doctors at University Medical Center, Lubbock Texas who cared for Sharon.
