Shannon married La Jean Harrel June 1, 1974.
Shannon is the father of Kelly Hughes of Lubbock, Step-Father to DeWayne Moore of Atlanta and Pamala Reed of Fairview, TX. He had 2 grandchildren, David Reed of Alameda, CA and Isabella Moore of Atlanta and 1 great-grandchild Wyatt Reed of Alameda, CA.
Shannon will be remembered for his faithfulness to God and to his family and friends, and for his sense of humor. Shannon was a business man, owner of the Burger Barn and Hi-Di-Ho, poet and oral historian. He loved to tell stories of Lubbock and the area’s contribution to music.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at Resthaven Chapel in Lubbock on 19th and Frankford.
Gifts may be made in his memory to Highland Baptist Church or Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st Lubbock, TX 79410.
