SanJuana V. Hernandez, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on June 24, 1932, in Luling, Texas, Sanjuana spent her life serving others with grace, kindness, and a vibrant spirit that touched everyone she met.
SanJuana had a career in Housing Services at Texas Tech University, where she retired after 21 years, leaving a lasting legacy in the community. She also spent over thirteen years as a dedicated volunteer at Lubbock Impact, generously giving her time and love to those in need. SanJuana was a woman of many talents and joys—she loved music, making tamales and baking empanadas, gardening, sewing beautiful quilts, and attending church. Known as a mighty prayer warrior, she embraced life fully and was a source of strength and joy to all around her.
She is preceded in death by her two parents, six siblings and one granddaughter.
SanJuana is survived by her children Joe Moreno, Lydia Martinez, Alberto and Connie Moreno, Pete and Sandra Moreno, Ted and Tina Moreno, Rogelio Moreno, and Yolanda Myers. She leaves behind 32 grandchildren and countless great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas. A graveside service will follow at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, with a celebration of her life at 11 a.m. at Quaker Ave Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas.
SanJuana’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
