Ruby Rogers Mitchell passed away peacefully on September 9, 2018 in Austin, Texas. She was born December 10, 1924 in Corinth, Mississippi to Edward and Annie Rogers. She was a resident of Lubbock, Texas for over 65 years before her move to Austin.
She worked for Furr’s Cafeteria and Monterey High School in Lubbock until her retirement. We remember Mom for her positive, bright, and colorful outlook on life and a life well lived. She was a lifelong Baptist and member of Southside and Memorial Baptist Churches in Lubbock.
She is predeceased by her husband Ralph and son Philip. She is survived by her son, Roy and his wife Carla of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Seth of Lubbock, Texas, Josh and Caitlin of Lockhart, Texas, Madison of Austin, Texas and one great-grandchild Justin of Fort Worth, Texas. Also surviving her are numerous nephews and nieces.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Mitchell and Dr. Bali Netaji for their tremendous help and guidance, as well as, the staff at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, Hospice Austin and the Christopher House for their support.
A memorial service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5730 West 19th in Lubbock, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
