Roy was born March 17, 1937 in Littlefield, Texas to the late W.D and Gladys Turner of Lubbock. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1955. He attended Texas Tech. He married his High School sweetheart, Nelda Louise Patterson in 1954.
Roy was President of W. D. Turner Construction Company and Vice President of Caprock Highway Company. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Thursdays Men’s Prayer Group. He will always be remembered for his love of the Lord, his kids, grandkids and especially his love for hunting, fishing and playing golf with his friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Bagwell.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Nelda Turner, two sons and one daughter, Barry Turner and his wife Marianne of Lubbock, Kent Turner and his wife Ruthann, of Trophy Club and Shelly O’Hara and husband Denny of McKinney. He is also survived by his grandkids Scott Turner and his wife Anne of Big Springs, Chase Turner and Ellen Turner of Trophy Club, his brothers Wayne Turner of Lubbock, Jim Turner of Houston and one sister, Pat Anderson and husband Paul of Wolfforth and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
