He was born July 6, 1924 to Rev. John W. Tucker and Elsie Fern Dickerson Tucker in Rock Creek Community, Texas.
He graduated from Turkey High School in Turkey, Texas. He served in the Army during World War II as a medic. He worked for 38 years at Amoco Production Company and retired in 1988.
He was a member of Levelland First Assembly of God until moving to Lubbock in 1990. He sang bass in a quartet and led singing during those years as well as taught Sunday School, served as youth leader and deacon. He was a member of Lubbock First Assembly of God from 1990 until his death.
He married Thresa L. Tow on May 29, 1947. She preceded him death on June 30, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his parents and siblings Garland, Frances, Evelyn and Donald Tucker.
Survivors are children Kay Newberry and Fay Powers (Joe) of Arlington, Texas, Garry Tucker of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren Sheila Golen (Dave) of Kingsville, Ohio, Jeff Newberry (Rachel) of Spring, Texas, Kristy Stokeley (Tony) of Arlington, Texas, Cliff Powers (Brandi) of New Braunfels, Texas, Nathan Tucker (Toni) of Amarillo, Texas, Lindsay Shadden (Justin) of Levelland, Texas; great-grandchildren Baylee Eytcheson, JoJo Newberry, Olivia Powers, Levi Powers, Addilynn Shadden, Holly Mae Shadden.
A memorial service will be held on January 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock with Pastor Tom Lakey officiating. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park following the service.
