Rick was deep frying turkeys at Stover Electric company picnics in Lubbock Texas before it was ever cool to do so. He could also be found at those same and other functions grilling or operating a smoker full of brisket or ribs. Usually doing so with a big smile and sharing a joke with friends.
You could never pull him away from a game of Trivial Pursuit or an episode of Jeopardy. He had vast knowledge of a little bit of everything from his love for reading…. A little bit of everything.
For many years Rick worked for Stover Electric in Lubbock Texas as an estimator of projects all over the country. Most recent before retirement he was an amazing car salesman. This suited him well for his radiant personality and passion for talking, story telling, and meeting people.
Rick was born to Jimmie “Mutt” McCain and Bonnie Hall McCain of Hughes Springs on January 31, 1951 in Marshall Texas. Rick was divorced and never remarried, but lived the last 35 years of his life with his better half and love Jody Schroder. She will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Billy Stover, which he loved and adored,
His only son and his wife Chanse and Heather McCain of the U.S. Virgin Islands. His nieces and nephews Angela Green, Brad Stover, Christi Kenny, Darren Stover, and all of their beautiful families he loved and admired in the Dallas area.
Rick will be laid to rest at Harris Chapel cemetery in Hughes Springs Texas Saturday January 9, 2021.
A memorial service will be held at Reeder Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs, Texas at 1:00 PM, followed by a graveside service for those who would like to attend.
