

In his youth, Dick was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of American. He contributed his participation for his love and appreciation of the country, the flag and the Lord.
Dick was raised in Margaretville, NY and graduated from high school there. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy. After leaving military service, he worked in the food industry at various businesses, including Mother Butler Pies, Denny’s Restaurants, Churches Chicken and Kettle Restaurant. He also worked several years at Mardel Christian Bookstore until his retirement.
Dick was a member of Green Lawn Church of Christ, since 1984. He was actively involved in various prayer projects, coordinated Sunday night suppers for the college students, grandparents program for LCU students and the single mom’s ministry.
In 1975, he met the love of his life, Ruth Louise (Beaver) McGuire and they married in 1977 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. They moved to Keene, NH a few years later and lived there for six years. While in Keene, Dick actively worked to start the Children’s Home of New England. In 1984, they moved to Lubbock to be closer to family.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife; son, Timothy Williams of Coco Beach, FL; stepsons, Randy McGuire and his wife Mary, Rick McGuire and his wife Marian all of Lubbock, and Gary McGuire and his wife Debbie of Eagle, ID; six grandchildren; sister, Carol Lynne Bishop; eight grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2020 at Green Lawn Church of Christ. Live Stream will be available on Resthaven’s Facebook.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Children’s Home of Lubbock.
