Peter Gabaldon

Peter graduated from Hobbs High School in 1996. He met the love of his life, Rachel, in 1996 and were married on April 20, 2013. He was employed with the City of Lubbock for 16 years, most recently as a Diesel Mechanic for Lubbock Fire Rescue. He was extremely hard working and never gave less than 100% in his work. Peter was also an avid Baltimore Ravens fan with Ray Lewis being his favorite all time player. Peter could also be found listening to all his favorite genres of music and took his last breath as his favorite song “Hotel California” played peacefully in the background. Peter had a tremendous love for all animals including Zoey, Boots and especially Bella, his beloved baby kitten who laid by his side until his very last day. He was also a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where he served as an Usher.

He is survived by his loving wife Rachel Dominguez-Gabaldon of Lubbock; their daughter Brianna Gabaldon of Lubbock; his son Jalin Brooks & wife Alicia of Hobbs, NM; 3 grandchildren: Josiah, Elijah, & King Brooks of Hobbs, NM; his mother, Jessie Guerrero of Hobbs, NM; his sisters: Maria Juarez & husband Adrian of Andrews, TX; Laura Smith of Lubbock, and Nancy Rivera & husband Sergio Deleon of Hobbs, NM; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Peter is preceded in death by his admired stepfather Jesus Rivera, his grandmother Maria Socorro Guerrero, & grandfather Ramon Guerrero.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of his healthcare team for the exceptional care he received during his treatment of Gastric Cancer. We want to especially thank: Dr. Saleem, Dr. Lux, Dr. Goyal, Dr. Sameer Islam, Mandie Moore FNP, Elena Sheets FNP, Dr. Klein, and his dedicated Hospice nurse, Jayme Smith RN.

Family will be receiving guests for a visitation on Sunday March 6th from 5-8pm with a Rosary at 6pm at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel . Funeral Mass will be on Monday March 7th at 2pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 1120 52nd St. with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
