Peggy June Maynard was born on August 31, 1934 in Happy, TX to Dyer J. and Fleda M. (Rice) Maynard. She graduated from West Texas High School and went on to attend Harding College and West Texas State University. While Peggy was at West Texas State, she met the love of her life, Leon Crouch. They were married on February 8, 1953 at the Central Church of Christ in Canyon, TX.
In 1965, Leon, Peggy, and their 4 children (Cathy, Jim, Eddie, and Charles) all moved to Liverpool, England where Leon and Peggy started the Liverpool Church of Christ. After 3 years they then moved to London where they were members of the Wembley Church of Christ where Peggy taught children’s Sunday School Bible classes. They all returned to Lubbock in 1972. During that year, Peggy then began working for what was then Lubbock Christian College. In 1979 she began working with Lubbock Independent School District. For many years, Peggy worked in the library at Mackenzie Junior High School. She retired in 1999 after 20 years with LISD.
Peggy was a long time faithful member of Greenlawn Church of Christ. While at Greenlawn, Peggy taught many Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School classes. She was very gracious host who held many Sunday dinners, various luncheons, bridal showers, and baby showers in her home. She was very devoted to the Lord, Greenlawn, and her family.
