Peggy Lou Blevins, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born to Harvey and Retha (Lambert) Watkins on March 24, 1937 in Blanchard, Oklahoma; the 6th born of 9 Watkins children.
The family moved to Lubbock in the late 1940’s. During the 1950’s, the family owned and operated a drive-in restaurant they named after Peggy. Many a hamburger was eaten at Peg’s Drive-In when hamburgers were 25 cents each. Peggy attended Lubbock High School.
She married Lloyd C. Blevins on August 5, 1955 in Lubbock. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage and were blessed with 2 children, Michael and Donna.
Peggy was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George A. Watkins and Dale Watkins; and sisters, Joselene Stevens and Alice Lambert.
She leaves behind many who love her and will cherish her memory; husband, Lloyd C. Blevins; son, Michael Blevins and wife Sherri of Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Donna Cristy and husband Kirk of Bismark, North Dakota; grandchildren: Joshua Cristy and wife Lilly of Ft. Worth, Texas, Kayla Cristy of Ft. Worth, Texas, Clay Cristy and wife Lauren of Southlake, Texas, PFC Jordan Blevins, who is in the U.S. Army stationed at 173rd Airborne in Italy; great-grandchildren: Luke, Cole, Grant and Adley Cristy; sisters: Betty Kinder of Mesquite, Texas; Linda Cannon and husband Cecil of Seagoville, Texas; Jerri Ammons and husband Wayne of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Paul Watkins and wife Judy of Lubbock, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday August 15, 2018 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel, with Rev. Andy Hurst officiating.
