Being a High School Coach and educator was one of the most fulfilling career choices Matthew could've chosen -- he spoke long and often about how important it was to him and how meaningful educating the youth was. He loved his children fearlessly. He spoke proudly of them at any chance he had. They were his priority. He would do anything for his friends, family, community and loved his students. Anyone who knew Matthew, knew that he was incredibly kind hearted. He had an immense passion for his work and was always a source of positivity. He carried a growth mindset in that anything he had his hand in he wanted to make better, stronger, and instill a sense of pride. Coach Hoover was always willing and ready to learn, no question was off limits and no person was above or below him to engage with. He was always proud of where he came from and who he was.
