Mary Lois (Jones) Walker of Lubbock, age 83, was born September 15th, 1941, in Lubbock, Texas. She married the love of her life, Robert N. Walker, August 30th, 1963, and spent 61 beautiful years together, building a family and going for scenic motorcycle rides to enjoy each other’s company.
Mary was a homemaker whose passions in life were God, her Husband, and family, these things were precious to her.
God came first in Mary’s life, and she was a devoted member at a handful of churches over the years. Most recently, she was a member of Shallowater Church of Christ, and before that, Monterey Church of Christ and Vandelia Church of Christ. One of Mary’s favorite things to do was to read her bible, and to share the word of God with children in Bible School.
Family was Mary’s pride and joy. She enjoyed being able to be present at all of her kids and grandkids' activities and getting a little extra time with the grandchildren when she got to babysit.
Mary somehow found the time to discover and master many hobbies as well. She was an avid knitter and crocheter, spending countless hours creating beautiful afghans. Her talents did not end there, she also loved to sew, cross stitch, and needle point. She also showcased her artistic talents in the kitchen, where she would decorate all sorts of amazing cakes. Mary also enjoyed playing the piano, and the art of calligraphy, penning many elaborate creations over the years.
She was a proud member of the Lubbock Firefighters Auxiliary 972, where she often did volunteer work. Following her servant’s heart, Mary could often be found tutoring children in the community as well.
