Mary L. Newell

Mary Lou Newell was born October 3, 1928 at Barling, Arkansas.

Mary Lou went to be with the lord on Jan 26th 2018.

She was united in marriage to Oscar William Newell, Jr. November 30, 1946, in Kermit, TX. He preceded her in death January 12, 2002. The marriage was blessed with a son, Johnnie Darrell and a daughter Vallerie Gayle Newell who preceded her in death September 26, 1998.

Mary graduated from Whitharral High School at age 16 in 1945. She attended Texas Tech, Lubbock, Texas.

A member of Downtown Bible Class and Lubbock First Baptist Church.

She wrote a devotional book “Thought for the Day” which was not published.

She was a home maker raising her children and later employed at Methodist Hospital for 16 years.

Mary is survived by : a son Johnnie Darrall Newell of Alpharetta, Ga.

Three Grandchildren:

Jennifer Lynn Newell of Atlanta, Georgia.

Kristen Elizabeth Newell of Atlanta, Georgia .

Jonathan Edward Newell of Atlanta, Georgia.

Also many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in her death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters:

Telsie Gibson, Bonnie Eslinger, Dovie Cox and Mildred Ratliff.

William Sparks Gage, Everett gage and Jack Gage.

Visitation from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home and Graveside services at 2:00 pm in Resthaven Memorial Park, Lubbock, Texas.

Ms. Newell will be in state prior to her graveside service on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services begin at 2pm in Resthaven Memorial Park.
