Mary Jane McDonald Goodwin, 89, of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 14, 2018, surrounded by family. Mary Jane was born February 24, 1929 in Smackover, Arkansas, to the late Angus Stuart and Mary Agnes McDonald.
She was raised in Arkansas and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Henderson State University in Arkansas. She married William Francis “Bill” Goodwin on August 23, 1951 in Smackover, Arkansas. Mary Jane retired from Lubbock Independent School District after many years of service. She later served as a Casa of Lubbock volunteer for several years. She received Volunteer of the Year award for her outstanding service. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and was active at Agape Methodist of Lubbock for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years. She is survived by 5 children; Nancy Teague (Darrell), William Francis Goodwin, Jr. (Leann), Melissa Riggan (Derrell), Pam McLaughlin (Wes), and Beth Jolly (Mark); 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 18, 2018 at Agape United Methodist Church.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
