Mary Emily Blackmon, 74, of Lubbock took the hand of the Lord on Friday, July 19, 2013 and went to her eternal home. Chapel services for Mary will be at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Dr. Keith Wiseman officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Monday the 22nd at the funeral home.
Mary was born on March 2, 1939 in Davidson, Oklahoma to Nute and Shine Barnett. She attended New Home High School with her husband, Leon Blackmon, graduating in 1957. She went on to attend Texas Women’s University and Texas Tech. Mary and Leon were married in Lubbock on August 16, 1958. She worked at American State Bank in Lubbock for 28 years.
Mary is survived by her husband, Leon; two sons, Michael Blackmon and Tim Blackmon (Veronica); daughter, Amy Richmond (John); seven grandchildren; one great grandson; and her brother, James Robert Barnett (Dorothy).
