Marie Houchin-Wofford

Norma Marie Houchin Wofford of Lubbock passed on to be with her Lord and Savior December 12, 2013. She was born April 8, 1928 in Breckenridge, Texas to Will and Annie Ray. The family moved to the West Texas area when she was 16 months old. She grew up and attended school east of Lubbock in the Canyon and Roosevelt systems, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1946.

Marie married Raymond Lloyd Houchin October 20, 1946. He passed away suddenly in 1981. She spent much of her working years in the medical field. She then married a high school class mate, J. Douglas Wofford, December 30, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Ray, son Bradley Ray, 5 brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband J. Douglas, 2 daughters, Kay Arki, Debra Shadden (David), son Tony Houchin, step-daughter Linda Carr, and 3 sisters, Betty Lewis (Darrel), Lilli Miller and Veneta Lewis (Norris, 7 grandchildren, 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday December 16, at 11:00 am in Monterey Baptist Church with burial to follow in Peaceful Garden Cemetery.
