Funeral services for Margie (Gaut) Lewis, 85, of Lubbock will be at 10 AM Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, with Pastor Nathan Fritz officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Margie entered into the presence of her Lord, October 29, 2018 after an eight year battle with Alzheimer's.
Margie was born April 2, 1933 in Highway, NM to Melvin & Marie Gillit. She spent her young adult life growing up in Wolfforth, TX. After graduating in 1951 from Frenship High School in Wolfforth she attended business college in Lubbock, TX. She married Lon Gaut on October 30, 1954 in Lubbock. They lived in Pampa, TX several years before moving back to Wolfforth. Margie and Lon were married 50 years prior to his death in 2004. Margie retired from Texas Tech where she was an accountant however most of her time was spent being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother . She married Charles Lewis on July 1, 2006, in Lubbock. Before her diagnosis she and Charles enjoyed serving in their church, traveling, and working around the house and in the yard. She was an active member of Milwaukee Ave Church of Church.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Lewis, two daughters, Barbara Worth of Melissa, TX and her husband Dana and Annette Hood of Lubbock and her husband Kevin; a son Tommy Gaut of Lubbock and his wife Patricia, five grandchildren, Michelle Duke and her husband Jason, Daniel Worth, Amy Hood, Kendra Hood, and Jackson Gaut, and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Max Gillit of Wolfforth and his wife Jane, and one sister in law, Marilyn Gillit of Roosevelt, TX. She was also blessed with two step children, Stan Lewis of Lubbock and his wife Joanna, and Robbie Lewis of Lubbock. Four step grandchildren, Calli Tucker, Carter Lewis, Wyatt Lewis, and Clayton Lewis, and four step great grandchildren.
Two brothers Ray Gillit and Wayne Gillit and one sister Loveta Ream and her husband John Ream all preceded her in death.
The family will greet friends and family from 6 PM to 8 PM Friday, November 2nd, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
