After graduating high school as salutatorian, Lois left her home in Hollis, Oklahoma and enrolled in business school in Lubbock, Texas. There she met and married Charley D. McNeal on June 1, 1947 in a double ceremony with her brother, Glen, and his bride, Glenna.
Charley and Lois were married for 69 years and welcomed two daughters, Phyllis and Marilyn.
After completing business school, Lois worked for Becknell-Wilkins, later to become Becknell Wholesale, where she spent the rest of her professional career.
In her spare time, Lois loved to do what she called “hand work”, creating beautiful Christmas stockings, tree skirts, and ornaments, as well as embroidery. She was also a fantastic cook, making anything from candy and cookies to delicious vegetables that she prepared and stored from Charley’s garden.
She was a member of the Monterey Church of Christ for more than 50 years.
In addition to her daughters, Lois is survived by five grandchildren–Michelle McCurdy, Melissa Anderson, Branum Noble, Justin Noble, Lee Noble–and 11 great grandchildren.
A graveside committal service for Lois will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 11:00 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
