Lillie Byers, 85, of Shallowater, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009, in Lubbock.Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2009, at 82nd Street and Avenue V Church of Christ with Dennis Dees officiating. Burial will follow in City of Lubbock Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7pm to 9pm. Lillie was born on March 22, 1924, to the late Otho M. and Lavinia Obera (Maynard) Murphy in Edge, Texas. She married Herbert “Gaines” Byers on April 19, 1947, in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1989, after 42 years of marriage.Those left to cherish her memories are two children: Danny Byers and wife, Ruth of Lubbock and Brenda Byers of Shallowater; seven grandchildren: Karen and Christopher Haley, Timothy Byers, Mary and Kacey Laughery, Sarah and Chase Perry, Tandy and Richard Miller, Brandon and Ashlee Rader, and Daniel and Anna Rader; 14 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
