Services for Lewis Lee Gilbert, 81, of Lubbock, will be at 1 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2011 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven. Mr. Gilbert passed away on Sunday, February 19th.
Lewis was born on May 18, 1930 in Spur, Texas to M.L. and Floy Daniels Gilbert. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and graduated from South Plains College following his service. He married the former Paulene Cauley in Lubbock in May 1954.
He owned and operated Shoe Comfort Clinic, one of three businesses at Indiana Gardens. He was a member of the VFW, Eagles Lodge and First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lana Lee Stout. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Norma Jean Barnes of Sacramento, New Mexico; one son, Daniel Spain of Lubbock; two brothers, Cecil of Lubbock, and Bob of Washington; a sister, Cathy James of San Antonio; and one grandson, Ryder Spain.
