Leslie Dee Jeffcoat, age 86, was the last of his four brothers and five sisters to take up residence in Heaven on Saturday, April 18, 2015. Born on November 18, 1928 to the late William and Euna Jeffcoat in Stanton, Texas.
He grew up in West Texas, where at the age of 11 he began working in a boot shop. His skills were sharpened with experience in the craft of handmade boot making; he became a master craftsman. He designed and crafted boots for, Dale Evans, Roy Rogers, Tex Ritter, Chill Willis, Merle Haggard and many others.
He served several years in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. During his service time, he took up softball and pitched in the Army’s 6th annual Championship Tournament before his honorable discharge in December 1955.
He answered the call, he became an ordained minister and pastor of the Apostolic Church of God in Lubbock, Texas. He met and married his wife, Betty, in December of 1977; whom he spent the rest of his life beside.
Above all, his greatest passion was Christ and he shared Christ’s message at every opportunity. He will be remembered by many for his sweet spirit and love for the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his sons, Tom and John Lowrey.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty; children, Dee Southern, Leslie Jeffcoat, James Jeffcoat and Leslie Lowrey; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and many close friends he considered family.
