Leonard B. Mitchell Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Rev. John Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Leonard was born on September 28, 1932, in Earth, Texas, to the late Leonard B. Mitchell Sr. and Myrtle (Williams) Mitchell. He married Bonnie McCarver on January 15, 1950, at Levelland’s First Baptist Church. Throughout his life he worked as a Derickman for Frisbie and Yancy for two years, served as Secretary/Treasurer for Furr’s Inc for 27 years, served as President for Hesters and Time DC/A&B Tire Company, General Manager for Lubbock Country Club for 17 years, and Office Manager for Lubbock Gasket and Supply for 8 years. He graduated from Draughon’s Business School with a Business/Accounting Degree. Leonard was a member of First Baptist Church Lubbock and was a member of the Downtown Bible Class. He was a very devoted Christian since the age of 9, when he received Christ into his life.

Those left to cherish Leonard’s memories are his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Mitchell of Lubbock; two sons: Larry Mitchell and wife Vickie of Austin and Gary Mitchell and wife Dana of Lubbock; three grandchildren: Garrett and wife Kobi, Matthew, and Brittany; a brother, Danny Mitchell and wife Clara of Marble Falls; and a sister, Molly Brock of West Linn, Oregon.
