Lenda Lou Scott, age 79, of Lubbock, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2021. What joy there must have been in Heaven this day as she was also reunited with her husband, the love of her life.
Lenda was born to Ray and Wanda Rucker on September 11, 1941, in Earth Texas on their family farm. On April 15, 1960 she married her best friend and life long love, Richard Scott. Together they had three wonderful children: Mandy, Mark, and Toby.
She worked 37 years as a financial counselor at University Medical Center where she dedicated herself to helping others. Lenda attended Tabernacle Baptist church for many years and loved her church family dearly. In her spare time, she loved painting and watching Hallmark Christmas Movies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Mike Rucker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, JW and Thelma Scott; as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bo and June Scott, Thomas and Nelda Scott.
Surviving family members are her children: Mandy and husband Toby Owens, Mark and wife DeeDee Scott, Toby Scott. She was a “Nana” to Casey, Amy, Corby, Savanna and Tiffany; as well as fifteen great grandbabies: Ashley, Macey, Tristian, Ethan, Kaden, Noah, Emma, Brayden, Logan, Tailor, Paisley, Marli, Scoti, Konway, and Baby Rigley; sister, Pat and husband Ronald Hunt; sister-in-law, Sandra Keith; brother-in-law, Joe Scott; countless nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend of 72 years, Norma Jean Connor.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as well as anyone who met her, as the sweetest and most compassionate person. She had the most beautiful soul and kindest heart, which anyone could have ever known.
We will miss the joy we were able to experience in her presence, but rejoice in the joy she is undoubtedly experiencing in Heaven.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 19, 2021 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
