Kathy was born October 7, 1950 in Wichita Falls, TX to Neal and Oneta Youngblood. She grew up in Lovington, NM and graduated from Lovington High School in 1969. As a single mother, Kathy attained her Bachelor’s Degree and pur-sued a career in social work in Hobbs, NM; receiving numerous awards and recognition for her work in the field. She later continued her education and received a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the College of the Southwest in 2000. After working 11 years as a school counselor, Kathy retired from the Carlsbad Municipal School District in 2012 and moved with her husband Joe to Wolfforth. Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was passionate about her service to the Lord and was a devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 11 years, Joe Hay; son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, Justin, Michelle, and Jackson Brown of El Paso, TX; daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters, Christy, Rance, Bailey, and Cydney Turner of Lubbock, TX; and son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, Wesley, Lynn, Lauren, Allison, Katelin, and Matthew Hay of Bluffdale, TX. She is also survived by her mother, Oneta Youngblood; sister, Karen Thompson and brother, David Youngblood of Haughton, LA.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home 5740 W. 19th street, Lubbock, TX from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Services celebrating Kathy’s life will be held at Bethany Baptist Church 4402 40th street in Lubbock, TX on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
