Justin Turner Jones

Justin Turner Jones passed away at Carillon House on Saturday November 4, 2023. He was 102 years old. He was surrounded by three of his daughters. Justin, fondly known as Chubby, was born to Dora Lee Smyers and Clyde O. Jones in Byers, Texas on June 28, 1921.

He moved to Lubbock in 1938 and worked in the service industry until he enlisted in the Army Air Core following the bombing of Pearl Harbor in January 14, 1942. He served in Belgium, England and Holland serving as a flight line mechanic. He was honorably discharged on October 19, 1945 ..... and returned to Lubbock to work for Coca Cola Bottling Co. He met and married Winona Pearl Cawthron on February 21,1948. He later worked for Borden Milk Company where he owned his own independent route in Levelland, Texas for over 40 years. After selling his route and semi-retiring he returned to the Coca Cola Bottling Company. After retiring, again, he worked for the Lynn Haney Collection until his final retirement in 2015.

In 2012 he was selected to be a member of the first Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He was escorted by his Son in Law, Lynn Haney. He always called it the "Trip of a lifetime".

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and wife. He is survived by 4 daughters, Sue Haney of Lubbock, Janet Eaves of Pflugerville, Lori Jones of Dallas and Lexi Jones of Lubbock. He is survived by 4 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 9 from 5 to 7 pm at Resthaven Chapel in Lubbock. Graveside Services will be at 2 pm on Friday, November 10 at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Hospice of Lubbock or Meals on Wheels.

The family extends a special thanks to the Staff at Carillon House and caregivers from Home Instead.

Serving as pallbearers are Colby Eaves, Price Dudley, Bart Sanders, Dan Laughlin, Connor Sanders and Michael Lindsey.
