Joyce Carlisle, 85, of Queen Creek, Arizona passed away on April 10, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
Joyce was born on July 21, 1937, in Duke, Oklahoma, however she lived most of her life in Texas. She was raised by her father, Mack Dooley, and stepmother, Mary Dooley along with her many brothers and sisters.
She married the love of her life, Grady L. Carlisle on March 9, 1956, in Gainesville, Texas. They moved to Lubbock, Texas, where they raised their 2 daughters, Sheryl and Deborah. Joyce was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed participating in her daughters’ activities. She was always there for school parties, Girl Scouts, and Camp Fire Girls. When her girls went into high school, Joyce went to work for Albertsons grocery store. She worked at Albertsons until retiring in 1998. Joyce and Grady loved to travel and camp in their travel trailer and did so until his death in 1988. Joyce and her cat, Sunshine, moved to Chandler, Arizona in 2013 to be closer to her oldest daughter and her family.
Joyce is survived by her 2 daughters: Sheryl (Terry) Bowers, and Deborah (David) Ferguson. She had 4 grandchildren: Aimee Richter, Matthew Bowers, Tabatha Mitchell, and Benjamin Mitchell. She had 9 great-grandchildren. Joyce is also survived by 2 brothers: Luke Dooley and Vince Dooley, and 1 sister: Della Bryant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady L. Carlisle; her parents, Mack and Mary Dooley; sister, Mary Mack Perry; brothers, Roy Dooley, Jimmy Dooley, Alvin Dooley, George Dooley and Danny Dooley.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023, at 10am at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 5740 W 19th St., Lubbock, Texas, 79407.
