Joe is and will always be a beloved friend of mine.  I have missed my friend Joe for several months now. I have been driving by his house for these past two weeks looking for him to be out side his house working and tending to nature as he always done. It has been a ritual of mine to catch up with Joe after working out of town for several months and coming back to my hometown of Lubbock. I am deeply saddened to learn  of the loss of such a great person that Joe was and will always be.  I will miss our talks and catch ups  every year, his kind words, his wisdom and just the  heart that he had.  We (his friends) will always carry Joe in our hearts as we live the rest of our lives. We will carry Joe and all of our memories of him forever.  We miss you Joe.

Joe was a very special friend.   I enjoyed reading his e-mails, especially when election time came.  I knew I would be receiving the most humorous ones from him. We would vote together during early voting at Amigos. I insisted on this. He especially enjoyed attending the lecture series at TTU. He kept me updated with good speakers coming to TTU.  Our last event we attended together was to hear a person who had been exonerated from prison, Juan Melendez 6446. I remember being so tired and telling Joe I could not go, but he insisted.  He told me how important this information was and I needed to hear it.  He was right!   The talk was so moving Joe and I purchased CD’s for we could hear the talk again.  Joe was a man who cared about the human race. He cared about the planet and how we treated it.  He loved life. I appreciate the moments we shared and his perception of how things should be, not as they are. Joe made the world a better place. You are truly missed, my friend.   

As a friend and colleague, I found Joe always had a unique, sincere, and thoughtful perspective.   A few words I think of when I think of Joe: wise beyond words, clever with wit, kind with others, deep with thought.  I miss him. 

Joe was a valued member of the Petroleum Engineering Department at TTU.  He loved working with students and professors.  May he rest in Peace.
