He was born in Iago, TX on March 15, 1929. Jose served in the Army Air Corp as a Cpl. He was stationed out of Kelly Air Force, Texas. He attended Air Chemical School – Tox Gas Handler- School in 1946. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Occupation Japan Medal.
Jose was married to Ramona Gayton from Lyford, Texas. They married December 23, 1962. Jose was a member of the VFW and had a passion for family, Frenship High School football and the Dallas Cowboys.
He was the proud father to seven children, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandsons.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Merced and Guadalupe Sosa, his wife, Ramona Alvarado, a son John Sotelo and his siblings: Mateo Rodriguez, Felipe Alvarado, Juana Ramos and Victor Rodriguez.
He is survived by: Joe Joseph Alvarado, Jamie A. Prock and husband, David, Linda A. Ingram and husband, Joe, Gloria Hernandez and husband, John, Adam Ramirez, Diana Luna and Megan Morris; grandchildren: James Merced Prock, Emily Elaine Prock, Bryce Bailey, Destanie Holcomb, Rene Sotelo, John Sotelo, Solo Ramirez, Solis Ramirez, Sanoy Ramirez, Sunday Ramirez, Jessica Luna, Joe Luna, Michael Hernandez and Joey Hernandez; great-grandchildren: Ciara, Colbi, Christian and Cruz Hernandez, Anthony Sauceda and Zane Morris; siblings: Antonia Barboza, Margarita Ortiz and Gloria Ambriz.
Visitation will be Friday 6-8 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery Chapel.
