I only learned of Jo’s death today.  I was so caught up grieving over the death of my own son, I have not been looking in the newspaper lately.  Until several years ago, Jo and I spoke on the phone quite frequently or I visited in her home by LCU.  I helped her some with the Masters’ Program at WT.  Jo was such a lovely person and a very smart nurse.   She so loved her family and spoke of them often.    I am a better person because I knew Jo Evelyn Stanton.  

Danny, George and family; we were so sorry to earn of the passing of your mom Jo. I met your mom in 1989, when I went to work at Methodist Hospital in the Education Department with her. She quickly became a mentor and dear friend to me. As did your Dad to both me and my husband Guy, who was working on his Master's at Tech. While Jo and I worked, Guy and Dude golfed and shared stories of farming days. Your parents were like family to Guy and me. It breaks my heart to know they both are gone. But, knowing your mom is with your dad again makes me smile. Your mom often said, she and your dad thought of me as the  daughter they never had. I will cherish my memories of special times with both of them. They both had wonderful laughs! Your mom shared so much wisdom and advice with me over the years and because of that I am a better person. May her memory live on through her grandchildren and great children...all of whom she loved dearly. As well as you; Danny and George and Michael. She loved each of you dearly. I know your Dad and Michael were there to welcome her to her heavenly home. She was a true gift to all who had the pleasure of knowing her and calling her their friend. I will miss her dearly...

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of you Mother.  We (the Cooper girls) have such fond memories of Jo & Dude & the times that were shared with our parents(Jack & Betty Cooper). They were such special friends! Keeping you in our thoughts & prayers!

I first met Jo Evelyn Stanton when I went to work at Methodist Hospital in Personnel Records in January of 1974. Jo was the Director of Education/Training. She was sick and "the love of her life, "Dude," would not leave her side until she was out of the woods. When she was able to come back to work, she was soon a welcome friend and source of very helpful information. I held her in high esteem as she had worked hard to get where she was. I finally got to meet Dude at our Christmas party and watched the two of them gracefully glide across the dance floor.  They were having so much fun and it was clear that they were still in love. Jo advised me to take dancing lessons with my husband so it would help me to deal with the stresses that I was going through. And her advice was spot on. I saw Dude when I was going through my treatment at Joe Arrington Cancer Center. I was saddened to learn of his passing. And I am so sorry for your family's loss. But I do know that Jo has been reunited with those she loved who have gone before her. And she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray that our Heavenly Father will hold her loved ones in his hands and that he will comfort them as only he can do. She and Dude can dance to the most heavenly music now.

Love my precious Aunt Jo. I will miss conversations we often had about our family history - I learned so much from her.

I am so sorry to hear of Jo's passing.  She was such a fun and loving lady, always had a smile.  Jo and Dude were friends of my mom and dad, Jack and Betty Cooper.  Always have such fond memories of them. May God wrap his arms around each of you during this time.

My deepest sympathy to George and the rest of the family. I will miss visiting with Jo. She was a very interesting lady. Due to circumstances beyond my control I will not be able to attend her funeral, but my thoughts will be with you.

So very sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom...My name is Sylvia SueVance Clineand I went to nursing school with Jo. She wea always a delight and funny funny lady tone around. She used to say " I am going to tell you a joke that will scorch your ear balls...and we would laugh just like little girls on the school grounds.. I have always heard about the Stantons in Shallowater...my family is the Vances in Shallowater ( Turk, Jessie Lee, and Bonita Thompson, and her daughter Laura..I will dearly miss her and know that her family was always blessed by her...it was a very sincere privilege to know and enjoy her. My condolences to her remaining family...
