James H. “Jimmy” Blevins was born on June 30, 1928 in Phoenix, AZ to W.G. & Lillian (Tate) Blevins. He went to his eternal home on September 28, 2013, with his family by his side. Services will be at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday October 2nd at the First Assembly of God church with burial following immediately in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:00p.m. on Tuesday October 1st at Resthaven.
Jimmy married Bonnie L. Eads on August 3, 1946 in Hot Springs, NM. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1990. He later married Violet (Clements) Dooley on June 25, 1999. He retired from Southwestern Public Service Company after 35 years of service. Jim loved to hunt and fish and was happiest outdoors. He restored many antique cars and drove them in many parades. He was a longtime faithful member of First Assembly of God where he served on their board and was a faithful church worker serving in many areas.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Violet; daughter, Bonnie Jean “BJ” Brooks and husband Troy; 2 sisters, Pat Derby of Hendersonville, TN and Mildred Stroud of Bolivar, MO; 2 brothers, Graydon “Bo” Blevins and wife, Charlene and Marland Blevins, and wife Louise of Las Cruces, NM, and close cousin, Lloyd Blevins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Blevins; sister, Winona Terrell.
The family is so grateful for the compassionate care Jimmy received at Odyssey Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon’s, Odyssey Hospice, or First Assembly of God.
