James Summerlin went into the fullness of Christ’s loving presence on 10/08/2023. He was born on June 22nd, 1939 to James R. Summerlin Sr and Louis Summerlin in Ladonia, Tx. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and immediately enrolled into U.S Army.
He was honorably discharged from the Army on October 31, 1966. Years after, he met his lovely wife Freddie. He extended his hands and time to raise two sons and worked diligently to be a good husband and father. He furthered his career in being a truck driver at Walmart for many years where he received the “Accident Free 1,000,000 Mile” award.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Louis Summerlin, his brothers, Dean Summerlin, Howard Summerlin, Dale Summerlin, daughter Tammy Summerlin, and son Todd Summerlin. He is survived by his wife Freddie Summerlin; children Randy Smith and Kelly Smith of Lubbock, Tx and Traci Summerlin of California; 3 grandchildren Magen Reaves, Morgan Stone, and Dylan Smith; 7 great grandchildren, Preslee, Blain, Kanon, and Rush Reaves, Beckham, Maverick, and Jensen Stone.
On behalf of our family, we want to thank each and every individual for the love, support, and prayers in this difficult time. His greatest compassion was being a PeePaw and time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His tremendous love for his family will forever be engraved in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00pm CST and Graveside services will be help Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 2:00 pm CST at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
