James Alexander Snyder, Jr, 80, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Friday, January 29, 2016. He was born in Tampa, Florida on March 31, 1935. He is survived by his wife, Billie Altman Snyder of Smyer, Texas. Jim was a man that loved his country, God and his family. At the age of 18 years, he graduated
from high school and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He received his college degree while serving in the Air Force and became a commissioned officer, retiring after 20 years of service as a Major. He was awarded the bronze star for bravery during his service to his country. Upon retirement
from the Air Force, he began to pursue a civilian career working at Region 17 Education Service Center.
He loved flying, movies, music, and playing cards with family and friends. He was an active member and served as a deacon and treasurer at Memorial Baptist Church of Lubbock for many years.
He is further survived by his children, Darlene Rankin and husband Jerry of Georgetown, Tx, Gina Holden and her husband Terry of Weir, Tx, and Shelly Snyder of Lubbock, his grandchildren; Shane Roberts and wife Tiffany, Christopher Ofe and Rosi, Mallory Roberts, Nathan Ofe, Malindsey Weaver and husband Brent, and Michelle Robertson and Luis, his great-granchildren; Jesse, David, Jayden, Toni, Elyjah, Madison, Mya, Tinley, Michael, Adley, Dylan and James. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in honor of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to Kingdom Point Church, 1351 FM 1460, Georgetown, TX 78626.
The family desires to give into the ministry of Kingdom Point to aid in building the Kingdom of God and the legacy of our loved one. He loved the Lord Jesus and strived to live life devoted to Jesus and His Kingdom.
