James Preston (Jim) Caudle departed this life on Friday, August 7, 2015. Jim was born May 6, 1927 in Glazier, Texas to James Jefferson Caudle and Bessie Merry Caudle. Jim grew up in Canadian, Texas where he graduated from Canadian High School in 1945. Soon after graduation he entered the United States Navy to serve his country during World War II. After his service in the Navy, he returned to Lubbock, Texas where he received his degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech in 1950. On August 2, 1953 Jim married the love of his life, Billie Houchin Caudle.
Over the next 62 years, Jim was involved in many large construction projects in Lubbock and around the country. In the 1950’s he worked for Lubbock Steel and Tidmore Construction Company. From 1960 until 1983, Jim worked for H. C. Lewis Construction Company. Then from 1983 until his retirement in 2012, he worked for Lee Lewis Construction Company.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Billie, his parents and his twin sister Mary Caudle Spurgeon of Amarillo, Texas. Jim is survived by his son Mark P. Caudle and his wife Molly of Hillsboro, Texas, granddaughters Krista Cheatham and her husband Kory of McKinney, Texas, Michelle Lewis and her husband Ryan of Lubbock, Texas and grandson Chad Caudle. Jim is also survived by his son J. Mike Caudle of Midland, Texas, grandson Clinton Caudle and his wife Jahdiel of Midland, Texas and granddaughter Casey Caudle of Round Rock, Texas and seven great-grandchildren Madison Cheatham, Blake Cheatham, Kayleigh Lewis, Leighton Lewis, Lane Lewis, Levi Caudle and Zeke Caudle.
