Ilse was born in Oldenburg, Germany to Wilhem and Klara Bischoff. After WWII she worked as a translator for the American Military in Aschaffenburg, Germany, where she met her husband of 53 years, Ernest Gilmore.
In 1953, while Ernest was stationed in Korea, Ilse moved to her in-laws home in Vernon, Alabama with her two children, Eddie, Doris, and one on the way, Barbara. Living the military life, they were stationed in many locations-one being Fort Smith, Arkansas where their 4th and favorite child Perry was born. For most of Ernest’s more than twenty-year military career, they split their time between Texas and Germany where Ilse’s parents and two brothers lived.
Ilse was a devoted wife, mother and “MeMe” to all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her family. Nothing pleased her more than spending time with them. She also enjoyed her friends, especially time with her friends at weekly exercise classes. One of her other joys was competitive games of Gin Rummy, Spades and Solitaire, and she was a very good player even in her final days.
Ilse was proceeded in death by her parents, Wilham and Klara Bischoff, husband Ernest Gilmore, daughter Barbara Parsons and brother, Guenther Bischoff.
She was survived by her three children, Eddie Gilmore and wife D’Anne, daughter Doris Russell Usrey and husband David, Perry Gilmore and partner, Cirby Gill; five grandchildren, Troy Niccum and wife Stephanie, Eric Gilmore and wife Laurel, Cody Niccum , Christopher Russell, Kevan Russell and wife Alex; five great children Brooke Warren and husband Cameron Zane NIccum, Walter, Orin and Archer Gilmore, two great great grandchildren, Carson and Wayland Warren, brother Dr. Jurgen Bischoff and wife Mira.
