Hubert S. "Don" Donaldson

Hubert S. Don Donaldson, 77, was welcomed into Heaven on Jan. 4 by his parents, Buford and Seba Donaldson; his two brothers, Albert and Larry; and many other family members. Don served in the USAF for 20 years and retired in 1975. He and his wife, Gaynell, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in October. They have both been active in Christ the King Catholic Cathedral for 38 years, where he was also member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition, they both volunteered together at Catholic Family Services for more than 10 years. Don was a recognized and honored leader of Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years. He also worked at Texas Instruments for 18 years. Don is survived by his loving and caring wife, Gaynell. He is also survived by his three children and their spouses, Marko Donaldson and wife Casey, Barry Donaldson and wife Rose, and Cheryl Wilmington and husband Jim. To his beloved 10 grandchildren he was lovingly called Papa and to his four wonderful great-grandchildren he was Pops. Don was a loving, caring and respected husband, dad and grandfather. Services will be Monday, Jan 7, in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 8, the Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Cathedral. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park and Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Catholic Family Services, 102 Ave. J, 79401.
