He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was a Staff Sergeant in the 173rd Airborne division, which he was decorated with the Bronze Star for his honorable service. He was a commercial carpenter who was a very hard worker, and traveled to various areas of the country.
He is survived by a brother, Larry Mayfield and his wife, Ester and their children Robin and David. Dwayne also had one daughter, Carol Lea Mayfield-Morris, four grandchildren, Cierra Jane, Chelsea Grae, Moriah Nelle and Eric Allan who all will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be Sunday February 3, 2013 from 6-8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Monday February, 4 2013 at 2pm at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel, burial with military honors will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the VFW or Wounded Warrior Project.
