Harold W. Andrews

Harold (Babe) was born January 8, 1938 in Olney, Texas to Sam and Grace Andrews. He was the youngest of 15 children. He departed this life on January 15, 2017. He graduated from Olney High School in 1956. While in high school he enjoyed playing football and basketball. In January of 1958 he went to work for Furr’s Cafeterias in Odessa, Texas. In April of that year he married his high school sweetheart Betsy Phelps. Harold began his career at Furr’s when there were only 2 stores in Odessa, Texas. Over time he worked his way up through the ranks to become President of the company. While president, the company grew to 160 stores in 8 states. He retired in 1995 after 37 years with the company. In 1996 he moved to Lubbock to be near family. He was a member of Trinity Church’s prime timers and the Nifty Fifties car club. Harold is survived by his wife of 58 years Betsy, 3 children Cindy Waters and her husband Byron, Sherry Fowler and her husband Todd and Harold Andrews Jr. and his wife Tracy, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, his brother Denny Andrews and his wife Sharlis, and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family was his greatest love in life. He stayed in close contact with all his extended family as well as many lifelong friends.
