He was born January 23, 1938 in Haskell County, TX., to O.V. and Corky (Wilson) Kreger.
After graduating from Haskell High School, he then attended McMurry College in Abilene TX graduating with a major in Physical Education, and minors in Math and English also lettering in basketball and football.
He married the love of his life Bobbie June Roper on Aug 21, 1960. He continued his education at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls TX graduating with an M.B.A. in Education.
He was a lifelong educator, coach and sports fan. He taught math and coached 6 and 8 man football at Mattson, Paint Creek, Munday, Breckenridge and Dawson. He devoted his life to the development and nurturing of his students and athletes.
He retired as the Superintendent from New Home ISD in 1999 after 39 years of teaching and administration. After retirement, he and Junie enjoyed spending summers in Ruidoso.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Junie, his sister Mylta Kimbler, his brother Jerry Kreger and his parents.
He is survived by his son and “favorite” daughter-in-law Shawn and Joann Kreger of Amarillo, his daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Keith Fleming of Lubbock. He has four grandchildren, Lexie and Lacie Bailey of Lubbock, Amanda Bell and husband of Amarillo and Julie McCarty and husband of San Antonio, five great granddaughters and two great grandsons along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A viewing will be from 5-7pm today at Resthaven Funeral Home and a Graveside service will be held at 1pm on Thursday October 29th at Resthaven Cemetery. All who’s lives he touched are welcome to attend.
