Gerald W. King passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025. Gerald was born January 9, 1933 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Wyatt and Dora King, and grew up in Dodson, Texas. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Gerald married the love of his life and best girl, Patricia (Hall) King. They were married for 68 wonderful years.
Gerald had a very strong sense of right and wrong in all matters, while always still being friendly and thoughtful to those around him. He passed those strong convictions on to the generations that came after him. He was a faithful Christian and a long time member of King's Ridge church of Christ, enjoying many hours of spiritual and Bible discussions with his family.
Gerald always enjoyed working, therefore was a true entrepreneur. He enjoyed many careers over his life including insurance sales, home remodelling, and real estate ownership. He also owned and operated Handyman Depot in Lubbock for several years. Gerald was involved in farming and ranching, as well as thoroughbred horse breeding. He enjoyed all things outdoors including fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also loved playing card games.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Pat, as well as 3 children; David King and wife Martha, Shannon Egert, and Brad King and wife Amy, all of Lubbock, as well as 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his favorite sister-in-law Rayma Watson. His advice and support will be missed by all his family and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Monday, Apri 7, 2025 at Resthaven Funeral Home with
graveside services to be held at 10 am, Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
