Gerald E. Beauchamp was born October 9, 1922 in Wilson, Michigan and died peacefully on September 11, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 98 years old, a few days short of his 99th birthday. As a young man, Gerald was raised on a dairy farm in upper Michigan with his eight siblings. Upon graduation from high school in Harris, Michigan in 1941, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Lubbock, Texas where he served as a radio operator mechanic from 1942-1945. It was there, he met the love of his life, Norma Crossland, who would become his wife until her passing in 2017. He attended Texas Tech University for management courses and worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1950 until his retirement in 1984. Gerald was an avid bowler and enjoyed the great outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Spending time and having fun with family and friends was important to him. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Norma, and son Leslie. He is survived by his children, Janis Campbell and husband Dr. Sam Campbell, son Edward and wife Cindy Beauchamp, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on September 20, 2021, at 2 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel located at 5740 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79407. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
