Gayla Burton

Gayla graduated from Seminole High School and went on to attend College of the Southwest, where she received a B.A. in Education. She married James M. Burton on May 30, 1970. She taught one year in Lamesa, TX, 4 years at Booker T Washington in Hobbs, NM and 21 years in Pampa, TX. She enjoyed painting, gardening and spending time with family. Gayla made Lubbock, TX her home in 2014 after residing in Pampa for 36 years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of more than 44 years James M. Burton, daughter Kelly Burton, brothers Bill Coats, Lloyd Coats, sister Beverly Cox, grandpup Koal Burton, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Gayla was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Barbara Jackson. Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to express their thanks to Texas Oncology Amarillo, TX, Joe Arrington Cancer Center, Covenant Lakeside 5th floor Oncology, Dr. Yalamanchili and staff, and Hospice of Lubbock for the loving care they provided. A special thanks to Courtney and Christina.
