

Evelyn Slaughter, 83, passed from this life on March 9, 2017 in Syracuse, UT. Evelyn was a long time resident of Lubbock, TX. Evelyn was born December 31, 1933 in Paducah, TX to Morgan and Derotha Bayne. She married Bill Slaughter and celebrated 58 years of marriage, 50 of which were in Lubbock. Bill passed away on December 26, 2008.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and golfer. Later in life, she cared for her husband, Bill, as he suffered through several years of Alzheimer's. When her granddaughter, Brianna, was born, Evelyn and Bill moved to Syracuse, UT to be close to their family. Through her selfless service, she became an integral part of her granddaughter’s life. Evelyn won many golf awards, trophies and tournaments in both Texas and Utah.
Evelyn truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She loved talking with friends and family, eating chocolate and spending time with the people she loved, mostly her granddaughter. Her friendship and kindness gave her an unusual ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was a very kind hearted person that was always looking for opportunities to serve family, friends and neighbors that developed relationships that were lasting and special. Evelyn will be truly missed by all that knew her.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter Stacy Hardy and husband Brent, and two grandchildren, Carson and Brianna of Syracuse, UT. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Slaughter, son Steve Slaughter, three brothers, Preston, Mark and Narvel Bayne, and her sister Barbara Hinderliter.
