August 3, 1939 – November 8, 2020
Lubbock, TX – Eustolio Gutierrez, Jr. was born on August 3, 1939 in Victoria, Texas to Eustolio Gutierrez, Sr. and Augustina Gutierrez. He went to be with the Lord on November 8, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones.
In 1967, Eustolio moved his family to Odessa, TX, and worked in a variety of careers. In 1987 he began working in the Street Department for the City of Odessa, where he worked his way up into a supervisory role, eventually retiring in 2002.
After retirement, Eustolio dedicated his time to helping others. He enjoyed being a carpenter. Eustolio would make home improvements and use re-purposed wood to create yard décor Eustolio was locally known as a grandfather mentor to neighboring college students and friends. He proudly did yard work for his neighbors, assisted others wherever needed, and loved to make all those around him laugh. His favorite times, however, were spent with family, and it was a blessing to call him husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and uncle.
On April 23, 2011, Eustolio married his high school sweetheart, Mamie. They were reunited after 52 years of separation. When they were young, their favorite past time was dancing and continued to dance until just recently!
Eustolio was a believer in Jesus Christ and lived his faith quietly but with conviction. Eustolio was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joyce Ochoa; son, Michael Allen; son-in-love, Eddie Rodriguez and Elias Tavarez.
Eustolio is survived by his wife, Mamie; three sisters, Mary Helen Cantu (Miguel), Alice Gutierrez (Alex) and Margaret Diaz (Hector) of Victoria, TX; four daughters, Lupe G. Tavarez and Lorraine Villela (Alfonso) of Odessa, TX, and Janet Soto and JoRita Satterfield (Mitch) of Lubbock, TX; three sons, David Gutierrez (Alice) and Eustolio Gutierrez, III (Brenda) of Odessa, TX, and Stephen Gutierrez (Victoria) of Floresville, TX, and son-in-love, Tony Ochoa; 24 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; and many beloved nephews, nieces and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November15th at 6 pm, followed by a Rosary at 7pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, November16th at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lubbock, TX.
