Services for Eileen Booker Tinney, 94 of Lubbock, will be held at 1 pm on Friday, Sept 16, 2011 in the Bowman Chapel of First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 6:30-8:30 Pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Mrs.Tinney passed away on Friday, Sept 9th.
She was born on Sept 17, 1916 in Mount Calm in Hill County, TX. She graduated from Lubbock High School, and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Texas Tech University. She was an educator for over 30 years in the Lubbock Independent School District, teaching Home Economics and home bound students in secondary schools. Mrs.Tinney was a member and past president of the Lubbock Women’s Club and was a board member of the League of Women Voters. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Lubbock where she was a faithful lay leader for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband William H Tinney and a daughter, Marilyn.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Robert W Tinney and wife of Silver Spring, Maryland; 2 grandsons, William Michael and John Stephen Tinney of Ft. Worth; a sister in law, Pat Jordan of Lubbock;
Memorials are suggested to Accolade Hospice of Lubbock or First United Methodist Church of Lubbock.
